Brain injury physiotherapy in Northamptonshire

Rehabilitation after a traumatic or acquired brain injury, focused on movement, balance, walking and everyday independence, at home or wherever you live.

After a brain injury

A brain injury can happen in many ways, including a road traffic accident, a fall, a bleed or a lack of oxygen to the brain. It can affect strength, coordination, balance and walking, and often brings fatigue and changes in concentration that make rehabilitation harder to manage alone.

Physiotherapy helps you rebuild movement and confidence step by step, with goals that matter to you and your family.

How physiotherapy can help

  • Improving strength, control and coordination
  • Balance and walking, including walking aids
  • Getting in and out of bed, chairs and the car
  • Managing stiffness and muscle tone
  • Pacing activity around fatigue
  • Reducing the risk of falls

What treatment involves

  • A detailed assessment of movement, balance, walking and daily activities
  • Goals agreed with you and, if you wish, your family, carers or case manager
  • Hands-on treatment and a structured exercise programme
  • Practising real tasks in your own home or care setting
  • Regular progress reviews and clear written updates

Brain injury questions

Do you accept referrals from case managers?

Yes. Case managers can call 07466 072856 or send an enquiry to discuss a client.

Is it too late for physiotherapy if the injury was some time ago?

Not necessarily. Many people continue to make progress with focused rehabilitation long after leaving hospital. An assessment will show what is realistic for you.

Can you treat me at home or in a care home?

Yes. I see people at home, in care homes and in nursing homes anywhere in Northamptonshire, as well as at the clinic.

Can a family member get in touch for me?

Yes. Many enquiries come from a partner, son, daughter or carer.
