Parkinson’s physiotherapy in Northamptonshire

Physiotherapy to help with walking, balance, posture and everyday movement with Parkinson’s, at home or wherever you live.

Living with Parkinson’s

Parkinson’s can make movements smaller and slower, affect balance and posture, and cause shuffling or freezing when walking. Regular exercise and practical strategies can make a real difference to day-to-day life.

Physiotherapy gives you a programme and techniques you can use every day, at home and when you are out.

How physiotherapy can help

  • Walking, including shuffling and freezing
  • Balance and reducing the risk of falls
  • Posture and flexibility
  • Getting up from a chair, bed or the floor
  • Turning in bed and moving around at home
  • Staying active and strong

What treatment involves

  • An assessment of walking, balance, posture and daily tasks
  • Exercise focused on bigger, stronger movements
  • Strategies such as cues to help with freezing
  • Practice in your own home, where problems happen
  • Advice for family members and carers

Parkinson’s questions

When should someone with Parkinson’s see a physiotherapist?

At any stage. Early on, exercise helps you stay strong and active. Later, physiotherapy can help with walking, balance and falls.

Can you help with freezing?

Yes. I can teach strategies, such as visual or rhythm cues, that many people find helpful.

Can you see me at home or in a care home?

Yes, anywhere in Northamptonshire, as well as at the clinic.
